-- Official Website [1]
Takemaru Yakushiji (Yakushiji Takemaru 厄師寺 猛丸) is a student in the 2025 JRPG The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-.
Appearance[]
Takemaru is a tan-skinned teenage boy with a muscular build and spiky white hair with shaved sides. His eyes appear to be medium brown, but are covered by purple-tinted glasses with gold frames, with several scars that can be seen on his face, neck, and abdomen, including one that spans from above his right eye to the center of his chin. He wears a green and black jacket with some yellow on it over a longer, solid black jacket that reaches the bottom of his pants. His longer jacket has white kanji 喧嘩兩成敗 (kenka ryōseibai) that translates to "in a quarrel, both sides are to blame", with simple black pants and boots. He wears no shirt and has bandages wrapped around his stomach.
His class uniform armband has the numeral 壹 (1) on it.
Personality[]
"An old-school delinquent who lives to ride and rides to live. Despite his rough-and-ready demeanor, Takemaru's really a nice guy on the inside. Impulsive, straightforward, and honorable to a fault, he's sworn to never use his strength to bully the weak." - Official Website Description[3]
Hot-blooded and battle-hardened, Takemaru is a fierce and aggressive man with a deep love for combat, and never shies away from a fight. However, he carries a moral code to never hit girls, old people, or children no matter the circumstances, and has a strong sense of personal justice, in addition to being a kind person to those who truly get to know him.
Despite Takemaru's self-imposed restraint, he has a short temper and often finds himself overwhelmed with the urge to hit something when provoked. When furious, Takemaru doesn’t lash out recklessly—rather, he gives fair warning, as seen when he outright tells Takumi that he might hit him. He despises being insulted and takes personal offense at those who question his strength. This frustration is particularly evident in his interactions with Hiruko Shizuhara, whose constant taunting about being stronger than him grates on his nerves, so much so that he openly wishes she wasn’t a woman just so he could finally fight her.
Beyond his love for brawling, Takemaru has a surprising appreciation for artistic design and furniture. Though it contrasts with his rough, fighter-like persona, he enjoys arranging rooms and surroundings in a way that makes them more visually appealing. This interest adds a layer of depth to his otherwise battle-driven personality, showing that, while he may be a warrior at heart, he also values aesthetics and comfort in his own way.
Name Etymology[]
Takemaru's given name (猛丸) contains the kanji characters for "fierce" 猛 (take) and "round" or "full month" 丸 (maru), with Yakushiji (厄師寺) being written with "misfortune" or "disaster" 厄 (yaku), "teacher" or "master" 師 (shi), and "temple" 寺 (ji).
Yakushiji is also a pun on 薬師寺 (yakushiji), which translate to "Imperial Healer" by replacing the 薬 (yaku), which means "medicine" or "benefit", the kanji for "misfortune" or "disaster"

Relationships[]
Hiruko Shizuhara[]
Hiruko gets on Takemaru's nerves almost immediately due to the combination of her high opinion of herself, her bluntness, and her tendency to look down on those she sees as beneath her. This dynamic only persists throughout the rest of the first week, to the extent that Takemaru makes it very clear that if it wasn't against his moral code to hit women, he would absolutely beat her up. Despite this, he does genuinely try to look out for her sometimes, scolding her for drinking underage because it's detrimental to her health. Hiruko, however, appears to have the lowest regard for Takemaru out of the three other people who initially step up to fight the invaders, seeing him as inferior to her in both strength and intelligence, and only laughing in response to his comments that she shouldn't drink underage.
